Montana Snow Pack, 3-15-2010

by Wayne Mumford on March 16, 2010

We are advancing into spring pretty quickly now. Several smaller lakes in the valleys are about to lose their ice. The river sloughs are open and the only remaining snow below 35oo ft. is in the shade or on the north slopes and little blades of hardier grasses are starting move.

Absent is the precipitation. Nights are still pretty cool but there has not been a significant storm for at least a couple weeks. We still have the hope of some spring and early summer moisture.
