A life well lived

Mans best friend

Mans best friend

For ten years we laid down more miles together than I have with anyone else in this life so far. Fishing, hiking, vacations, road trips, photo shoots we got to do it all. Always ready to go, no itinerary needed. Family companion, kids playmate, 24/7 security guard and cat patrol specialist.
Big body, big heart, a lot of soul. Friend to all and enemy to none (except a few unlucky cats). Asking for little and giving much. The trail won’t be the same without you. I hope that wherever you are, you are again whole and running down the wind like the young pup that you always were.

This seems to be one of the hardest situations to deal with in life because if you have never experienced the friendship of a good dog you won’t understand. But,the joy you receive from their companionship is worth the hurt.I always say its the last dog for me.But ,I always get another without forgeting all the others I’ve had.Hope everyone involved with this pup heals their hurt quickly.

sorry to hear about losing your pooch. they’re special, and it’s too bad they can’t live as long as us.

Thanks guys. Bud’s statement, “the joy you receive from their companionship is worth the hurt”, is absolutely true. The older I get the more I realize that most dogs would make perfect people. I used to chuckle a bit about older people and their pets but now that I’m on my way their myself I understand. I hope their is enough time for a couple more good dogs, I learned so much and covered so much ground with this one that it will take a bit before I can truly let him go. Enjoy them while you have them!
