Lester's Hula Girl

Lester's Hula Girl

Lester at Lakestream in Whitefish turned me on to the Hula Girl a couple years ago. Grayling cannot keep their little lips off the thing. It’s almost not fair.

Lester’s pattern is peacock herl all the way up to the partridge hackle. This winter while prowling around the local hobby shop I found these beads that have the same iridescent quality and color that peacock has so I added them. I’m not sure they change the Grayling tipping point, the fly is lethal anyway, but if nothing else it adds a little weight.

Hook: #8 Streamer, Dai Riki or Tempco

Thread: Black

Body: Peacock Herl

Hackle: Partridge

Tail: Maribou, McFlyon, Antron etc.

Rib: Copper wire

Lead wire or lead Golfer’s tape
