Into the slough

What does this ugly old dead tree laying in the river have to do with anything related to fishing?

It provides a nice little home for Largemouth Bass. Just about any dock, old trees or brush on the edge of the river is a haven for fish communities. They also provide protection from the birds above. We caught a couple today with talon wounds and watched as an Eagle siezed a fish that was to big for an Osprey to fly off with. The Osprey had managed to get it to shore when the Eagle decided to crash the party and steal the meal.
