Kudos to Walleye Unlimited Montana for killing SB 425 and giving Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks a well deserved smack down . Initially I was a little dubious about the WU angle on this thing but in the end the real hammer blow falls on MFWP.
Although this bill did not get WUM what they wanted it went a long way in putting the Fort Peck Hatchery project into perspective for a lot of us and rightfully yanking MFWP’s pants down around their ankles.
I think it is a lot more clear now where this issue stands and how it came about. What we need to do now is work with WUM and force MFWP to find funding for this hatchery out of its own pockets and not ours.
