Golden stonefly nymph prototype
Ok, it kind of has a color match akin to a Scottish kilt, and legs closer to those of a large arachanid. It’s a work in progress alright. My mixed light sources didn’t help me out either.
This was my initial attempt after getting some ideas from some of Steve Thornton’s patterns and the sexy legs from Paul Whillock. I found products from both tiers at J.Stockard Fly Fishing without having to order them from the UK.
I already have some concerns about the durability of the legs. Not so much coming off or breaking but getting bent into all kinds of contortions after going a couple rounds with the streambed and (one hopes) some large fiesty brown trout.
