Photographing flies

by Wayne Mumford on February 17, 2009

Learning to tie better flies and photograph them is one of my ongoing projects. Fortunately, there is a growing body of resources.

From Midcurrent: Techniques and Gear for Photographing Flies

Some good tutorials and nice fly photographs from Neal Osborn’s Fly Art Studio.

Oh man, now I feel like crap. Make my photos look like I took them with a pinhole camera.

Don’t get bummed out, get inspired. I love looking at others peoples work, even though I get the same feeling sometimes. It’s simply amazing what people come up with.

Photography is like a lot of things, you learn and improve as you go. I think digital photography shortens the learning curve because you can see what you are or are not doing right away.

So, grab that camera and start shooting it’s the only way to do it better.
