Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has asked the USDA to remove the remaining members of the Hog Heaven pack west of Kalispell. As recently as last week the pack was back raiding local livestock. We spotted two of the wolves Saturday near the Kila area on our way out hunting. Kila is about 10 miles west of Kalispell.
In other news on the Wolf front, an editorial in Caspar Star-Tribune criticizes the states current relationship with the Federal government, Wyoming Fish and Game and US Fish and Wildlife. Wyoming’s dual status for the Wolf, big game and predator and the regulations surrounding enforcement, played a large part in the recent decision to returning their endangered species status. Needless to say that didn’t make them to popular with Montanan’s and Idahoan’s for bringing down the hole plan while the wolves continue to run unchecked across the countryside.
Montana and Idaho have forged ahead on their own plans and will probably see them implemented early this next year- with or without Wyoming.
