I received my demo DVD from Jess and the DryFly Media team today. Of the four southwest Montana rivers and the Henry’s Fork in Idaho, I chose the Madison because I never seem to make it that far south these days and I love the country.
The imagery is beautiful and anyone who has been on this river will recognize the locations. The shots are all static shots, that is, there are no pans. I think a few of locations would have lent themselves well to pans as the Madison flows through some big open country.
To compliment the visuals are the sounds from the river, one of the things that draws us all to the water. They are crisp and clean and sure to take you to your favorite river place. As they state at their site “the intended star of the show is the river and adjoining landscapes” and not documentaries of people catching fish.
These DVD’s would make great collection to have for tuning out the commotion of our daily lives and tuning into the rivers where we’d love to spend all of our time. They would make a great backdrop for traveling, reading, snoozing (meditating) or just general relaxing. The audios by themselves will be enough to transport me out, the visuals just get me ready.
All in all, a great compliment for anyone’s fishing movie library and a refreshing change from all F/X intensive, upside down shot, heavy metal destination documentaries in circulation today.
