In my last post I mentioned that “I have pretty much gotten over the knick-knack gadgetry fetish…”- well sort of. Awhile back I was following a link off SwittersB’s weblog, I think it was on body weaves for flies, which was excellent- even though I don’t speak French. Anyway I continued on to some of the other videos at Jean Paul Dessaigne‘s site and was watching one on les dubbing loop when I noticed a dubbing twister he was using.
What caught my attention was how the wire V would loosen and tighten the dubbing loop when he pulled on the dubbing twister and then spun in the material. This seemed far superior to some of the stone age creations of my own which have been based around a large modern paper clip and large lead fishing weight. My curiosity being piqued, I started searching around the web for this mystery dubbing twister and found one in the great monument of modern online capitalism, ebay. Of course I promptly purchased one for under $10. It is apparently the creation of Al Beatty and is available directly from BT’s Fly Fishing Products.
In the next couple days I will find out if I have in fact revolutionized my dubbing tech or have fallen for yet another gadget that I will feel obligated to retool into something else, possibly something to clear my nostrils with.

Hi,
This dubbing twister is an Italian creation, of one manufacturing of fly tying tools which was called Mr. Lumini. All the models that you find on the Web are indians copy more or less well done.I am likely to still have an original which I preserve preciously but it is possible still to find some specimen in Italian stores
Unfortunately Mr. Lumini do not make any more these tools. Too bad
Hi,
I canot find that twister in UK??Can you help mi to find ?
Thanks
Go to Jean Paul Dessaigne’s website (http://www.jpdessaigne.com). that is where I found this type of dubbing twister. It appears that the originals are no longer in production but there are copies available. There is an email address there to contact Jean Paul and he may know where to find them in the UK.
I bought mine off ebay, it appears to be similar, if not the same dubbing twister sold as the Dub’g Twister at http://www.btsflyfishing.com/catalog/page6-7.htm by BT’s Fly Fishing Products.
This is the web address where I bought the dubbing twister on ebay- http://stores.ebay.com/HILLTOP-FLY-TYING-SUPPLY-SHOP_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsxQ3asstQQtZkm
