Grasshoppers for trout

Starting in August and lasting till the first frosts the Grasshoppers become a large chunk of protein for Trout as they head into winter. Outside the Fall Caddis this is one of the last large food items a lot of Trout will see till spring.

A large, crunchy morsel. In our pasture alone, there must be over a dozen different kinds of Grasshoppers so its no wonder there is such a variety of patterns for them. Check out Trixie, the Hooker Hopper.
